Led by Menlo Park-based Bessemer Venture Partners, Oryx raised $17 million in a Series A round to accelerate R&D for sensors based on its “coherent optical radar” system. Additional investors included Maniv Mobility and Trucks Venture Capital, while Bessemer partner Adam Fisher joins Oryx’s board as it staffs up and moves out of the lab to commercialization. If all goes well, that happens around 2020, according to CEO and co-founder Rani Wellingstein.
