Tmura raises $10M for non-profit causes, proves nice companies finish first
Tmura, the Israeli Public Service Venture Fund, announced that it has raised over $10M for nonprofit causes, mostly directed toward youth-related charities throughout Israel. The fund offers startups a way to donate to charities and nonprofit causes by gifting Tmura equity that turns into a profit by liquidating bequeathed shares after a donor startup completes a successful exit. In 2013, OurCrowd launched a social responsibility initiative with Tmura, and requires its investee companies to commit equity to charity. To read more about Tmura, click here.
Israeli startup’s extraordinary solar eTree transforms public seating
Lots of cities have free Wi-Fi, but only one – so far – has an eTree. This revolutionary ecological installation from Israeli startup Sologic provides free wireless Internet, charging stations for electronic devices, nighttime lighting, and water coolers for humans and dogs – all powered by a “canopy” of solar panels. Municipalities could purchase eTrees, and so could any company looking for a “green” project that provides free services and environmental awareness to the community.
